Meet Our Studio Director
Square Peg Design would like to introduce Stephanie Lessmann as she takes on a new role as Studio Director. A Wayfinding Strategist at heart, she holds a Master’s of Research in Information Environments and has spent the last 13 years diving into the study and global use of innovative design solutions, plus another 5 years building a foundation in business, processes, and project management. Inspired by her early work to enhance community interest in education through the design of a small rural public school in her home country of Brazil, Stephanie developed a deep passion for exploring how design influences user experience within built environments. This interest eventually led her to specialize in Wayfinding design. She has since been involved in developing wayfinding solutions all over the world, where she worked and lived, spanning 12 countries and speaking 4 languages. Landing at SQPEG, she brings comprehensive leadership to her team as she embodies this next chapter.
Stephanie’s approach comes from years of developing the best strategy for her clients across transport, urban, healthcare, hospitality, education and workspace sectors. Understanding project needs and translating them into actionable wayfinding solutions, Stephanie creates alignment with client expectations and budgets while utilizing the best team and resources. Her clear direction and creative problem-solving has successfully contributed to many projects and communities around the world. Stephanie’s project portfolio includes a pedestrian-focused wayfinding strategy for National Landing in DC, award-winning projects like the Dubai Design District, and a research-driven public transport integration in Doha, Qatar.
Driven by the challenges, strategies and ideologies in successful wayfinding & placemaking solutions, Stephanie continues to guide Square Peg Design through new opportunities that align with our ever-evolving world. In truth, she believes effective wayfinding goes beyond signage. As quoted from The Walkable City by Jeff Speck: "Wayfinding is a critical part of the walkable experience. People should always know where they are and where they’re going, or at least be able to find out easily.” At Square Peg Design, we are thrilled to have Stephanie on board, continuing our work building and growing this creative industry together.
